Wendell Dale Winings Obituary (1930 - 2016)

Wendell Winings 85, of Decatur, IL went to be with his Lord and Savior, at 3:50 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Services to celebrate Wendell's life will be held at a later date. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family with services. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com. Wendell was born August 8, 1930, in Mattoon, IL the son of Maurice and Mary A. (Heath) Winings. He was a US Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He married Wanda Durre on August 21, 1951 and they were married for sixty-four years. Wendell retired from PPG Industries after thirty years of service to the company. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and had served as a Deacon in the church. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and fishing. He also enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales in the area. He was a diehard Cub fan, Chicago Bears fan, and Illini fan. But most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family. Surviving is his wife: Wanda of Decatur; son: Ron Winings and his wife Gina; daughters: Debbie Tipsword and her husband Bob, Kathy Clendenen and her husband Rex, Karen Bryant and her husband Dan, and Brenda Butler; brother: Duane Winings and his wife Lilo; nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren also survive. Wendell was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter: Andrea Bryant.
