Thomas "Tom" Howard Rigg Obituary (1955 - 2016)

Thomas "Tom" Howard Rigg, 60, of Dalton City, IL passed in his home with his family by his side on Monday, November 14, 2016. A memorial service to honor and celebrate Tom's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Tom will be laid to rest in Point Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to DMH Cancer Care Specialists. Tom was born on December 24, 1955 in Decatur, IL, the son of Howard and Norma (Henderson) Rigg. He married Jamie Welch on August 16, 1995 in Macon County. Tom worked for Christy Foltz as a laborer for 18 years and was a volunteer Fireman for Dora Township. After retirement he loved farming and his outdoor activities. He loved being a handyman, tinkering with his garden and helping others in need. Tom was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved the outdoors and nature. He was an amazing husband, father and friend to all who knew him. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Tom is survived by his parents: Howard and Norma Rigg of Hammond, IL; wife: Jamie Rigg of Dalton City, IL; children: Jason (Nicolle) Simpson of Macon, IL, Adam (Rachel) Rigg of Albany, NY, Brian (Samantha) Rigg of Decatur, IL, James (Ashley) Meers of Blue Mound, IL and Jeanna (Templeton) Kramer of Oakley, IL; siblings: Linda (Clarence) Davis of Lovington, IL, Marcia (Steve) West of Jefferson City, MO and Pat (Nancy) Rigg of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren: Gracelyn, Peyton, Mackenna, Kaydence, Jacob, Jaxson, Wesley, Konner and Baby Mya arriving in February 2017; mother-in-law: Phyllis Goodbred of Mt. Zion, IL; many nieces and nephews; special hunting partners: Bob Davis and Bill Myers; Tom's beloved dog Duke. He was preceded by his grandparents: Tom and Lilly Rigg, Harry and LaNeva Kelly.
