Thomas "Cecil" Still Obituary (1919 - 2015)

Thomas "Cecil" Still 95, of rural Mt. Zion, passed away at 12:23 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2015, in St. Mary's Hospital. A service to celebrate Cecil's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be accorded at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com. Cecil was born December 7, 1919, in Bethany, IL the son of Thomas and Myrtle (Tolby) Still. Cecil farmed east of Mt. Zion for over fifty years. While farming, he also sold agricultural machinery. In his later years, he assisted Miles Chevrolet by driving trade cars for the dealership. The last decade of his life he continued to enjoy early breakfast with many of his Mt. Zion friends. Cecil was member of the Masonic Lodge for over 70 years both in Iowa and Illinois. As a 32nd degree Mason he went on to become a member of the Ansar Shrine. Cecil was a member of the Mt. Zion Lions Club and had enjoyed being a volunteer for the American Legion Post 105 in Decatur. He married Lula F. Corman on May 13, 1941. She preceded him in death in 1963. Surviving are his sons: Michael Still and his wife Susan of Chandler, AZ and Stuart Still of Mt. Zion; grandchildren: Rondia Still of Mattoon, IL, Tony Still of Mattoon, IL, and Jonathan Still and his wife Jennifer of Carlisle, PA; four great grandchildren also survive. Cecil was preceded in death by his wife, parents, son: Gary; four sisters and one brother. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors and staff of St. Mary's Hospital and Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois for all their care and concern that Cecil received.
