Steve Alan "Dad" Skelton Obituary (1950 - 2017)

Steve Alan Dad Skelton 66, of Mt. Zion, IL passed away at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2017, in St. Marys Hospital, Decatur. In keeping with Steves wishes, a private celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family with arrangements. Steve was born December 28, 1950, in Macon County, IL the son of John B. and Dorothy (Harlin) Skelton. Steve married Mary J. Johansen on July 30, 1983. He retired after twenty five years of service as a paramedic for Decatur Ambulance Service. He was a member of the Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge. He was a former firefighter for the Mt. Zion Fire Department. Steve enjoyed fishing and boating. He also enjoyed woodworking and was known to be able to take on any task presented to him. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Mary of Mt. Zion; daughters: Stefani Works of Mt. Zion and Brittani Skelton of Decatur; son: Clint Ashmore and his wife Jessica of Mt. Zion; brother: John B. Skelton Jr. and his wife Sue of Decatur; sisters: Tonia Richardson of Shelbyville and Sherry Summar and her husband Tom of Roanoke, VA. Five grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his large paramedic family also survive. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter: Shaylee Skelton. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Sebastien S. Kairouz, Dr. Jeanne Marie Kairouz, and the staff at St. Marys Hospital ICU for all their care and compassion.
