Rollin L. Rohman Obituary (1931 - 2016)

Rollin L. Rohman 84, of Decatur, IL passed away at 4:28 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2016, in his residence with his family by his side. A private family graveside service will be held at Point Pleasant Cemetery in Long Creek. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family with arrangements. Rollin was born December 5, 1931, in Decatur, IL the son of Fred and Leona (Disney) Rohman. He married Barbara E. Doty on August 25, 1951. Rollin was a Korean War Veteran. Rollin worked for the Norfolk Southern Railway for 43 years, retiring in 1991. He was an avid fisherman, duck hunter, basketball player for Wabash Railroad, Class A softball player for Smokehouse, Evey's, Butterfield, Alyco, Heinkel, Decatur Merchants, Golden Harvest, and Rileys. He loved country music and talent shows. He especially enjoyed attending the Bement Country Opry and the Gunny Sack in Arthur, IL. Rollin is survived by his wife: Barbara, daughter: Debbie, and his son: Dennis; sister: Charlotte (Jim) White, brothers: David (Patty) Rohman and Tom (Mary) Rohman; sisters-in-law: Sarah (Glenn) Farrar; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is man's best friend, his beloved dog: Toby, who was by his side to the very end. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Barbara Waller and husband Bob, In-laws: Eugene and Rosa Doty, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Rosetta and Bill Phillips and Bill and Norma Doty, nephews: Rick Phillips, Jeff Phillips, and great-nephew: Ryan Doty.
