Peggy L Gardner Obituary (1933 - 2014)

Peggy L. Gardner 81, of Decatur, passed away at 11:55 p.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2014, in St. Mary's Hospital. A service to celebrate Peggy's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion with Rev. Dan Spruell officiating. Burial will be in Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family requests that you wear your favorite St. Louis Cardinal apparel for her services in honor of Peggy. Peggy was born May 11, 1933, in Cisco, IL the daughter of Emery and Josephine (Ashton) Musselman. She married George J. Gardner on November 25, 1958. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2001. Peggy retired from the Illinois Central Railroad after thirty-seven years of service as a clerk. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren, was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, and had a deep love for her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. Surviving are her sons: Joel Kevin Gardner and his wife Martina of Oviedo, FL Terry Gardner and his wife Sharon of Farmer City, IL and Alan J Gardner of Decatur; grandchildren: Dominic Vercellino of Chicago, IL, Adair Gardner of Farmer City, IL and Staci Gardner of Farmer City, IL; also surviving is her special cat: Saffie. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister and one brother.
