Owen Travis Lebo Obituary (1917 - 2014)

Owen Travis Lebo, 97, of Decatur, IL passed away on Sunday (Nov. 30, 2014) at Decatur Memorial Hospital. A service to celebrate Owen's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday (Dec. 8, 2014) at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Macon. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be in South Macon Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to East Park Baptist Church. Owen was born on September 1, 1917 in Macon, IL, the son of Chester Owen and Nettie Mae (March) Lebo. He graduated from Macon Community High School and served in the U.S. Army 38th Division Indiana National Guard during WWII, being stationed in the Philippines. Owen accompanied General MacArthur on his return to Leyte Island. After his service to his country he returned home to farm with his father and to work as a mechanic for Macon Farm Supply until he retired to design and have built his underground sod home which he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Lillian Galloway, Alta Mowerr and his niece: Georgiana Mowerr.
