Neal E. Shehorn Obituary (1949 - 2019)

Neal E. Shehorn, 70, of Decatur, IL passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019 in his home surrounded by his family. A service to honor and celebrate Neal's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 11:00-1:00 on Wednesday. In memory of Neal, the family requests friends with Hot Rods drive their cars to the service. Neal will be laid to rest in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Macon County Honor Guard. Neal was born on February 20, 1949 in Mt. Vernon, IL, the son of James E. Shehorn and Sarah E. Fairchild. He served proudly in the United States Army. Neal married Diane Fisher on March 31, 1972. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway. He loved his family, his pets (Max), old cars, landscaping, helping others and being outside sitting on his front porch drinking a cup of coffee. Neal especially loved making his wife happy, and he did that throughout their 47 years of marriage. Neal is survived by his wife: Diane Shehorn of Decatur, IL; children: Audria Michele (Bill) Doran of Mt. Zion, IL and Luke E. (Carla) Shehorn of Decatur, IL; Neal was a very proud Papa of four beautiful grandchildren: Rylan Doran, Anthony, Elania and Jacob Shehorn; brother: Butch (Francine) Shehorn; sisters: Theresa (Roy) Yanez and Madlyn (Sonny) Bradford; several family members and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.
