Myron J. "Buster" Shaffer Obituary (1926 - 2017)

Myron J. Buster Shaffer, 90, of Decatur, IL passed away at 2:38 p.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Keystone Meadows. A graveside service to honor and celebrate Myrons life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Gray Cemetery, New Salem, IL. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to donors choice. Myron was born on September 8, 1926 in Milton, IL, the son of Albert Edward and Dora Melvina (York) Shaffer. Myron married Deloris Rush on April 7, 1949. They were married for 55 years before she passed away in 2004. Myron was a truck driver for Spector Mid-States Freight Systems for 31 years. He proudly served in the United States Navy. Buster was a member of the Moose Lodge, VFW and the Strikers, Jasper and Senior Bowling Leagues. He enjoyed playing golf and dancing. Myron is survived by his children: Eleanor (Steve) Smith of Dickson, TN and Daryl E. Shaffer of Chicago, IL; grandson: Peter Joel (Bernadette) Bukiri of Orland Park, IL; great grandchildren: Peter Jonathan Bukiri and Sophia Francesca Bukiri of Orland Park, IL; brother: Daryl F. Shaffer of Raleigh, NC; beautiful and faithful sweetheart: Eileen Boyd of Decatur, IL; many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and his 4 brothers and sisters.
