Max E. Pritts Obituary (1925 - 2015)

Max E. Pritts, 90, of Decatur, IL passed away at 6:04 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. A service to celebrate Max's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2015 at First Christian Church 3350 N. MacArthur Road Decatur, IL 62526. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church. Max will be laid to rest in Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites provided by the Macon County Honor Guard. Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to First Christian Church/Arts Academy due to Max's love of the fine arts and children's ministry. Max was born on August 11, 1925 in Bement, IL, the son of William E. and Edith (Jarboe) Pritts. He served proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII as a forward observer with the 736th Field Artillery Battalion. Max was a mail carrier for 35 years, retiring in August of 1980. He then worked for many years with the Rolling Prairie Library. Max married Roberta Potts in 1946. He later married Eloise Bobbitt in 1966 whom preceded him in death in 1996. Max then married Shirley Pasley in 1997 and she preceded him in death in 2009. He attended First Christian Church in Decatur and enjoyed studying his Bible. He also enjoyed bowling, traveling, watching westerns on television and playing cards. Max is survived by his sons: Mike (Karen) Pritts of Valparaiso, IN, Danny (PJ) Pritts of Forest Park, IL and Bob (Carol) Pritts of Decatur, IL; step-children: Donna Brandeberry of Decatur, Terry Bobbitt of Decatur, Richard Bobbitt of Decatur, Mike Bobbitt of Decatur, Kathy Butler of Decatur, Steve Pasley of Las Vegas, NV, Tammy Owens of Damascus, OR and Shawn Pasley of Danville, IL; brother: Larry (Jan) Pritts of Bloomington, IL; grandchildren: Rob (Rosan) Pritts of Aurora, IL, Scott Pritts of Springfield, IL, Brad (Liz) Pritts of Clarksville, TN and Janice (Jim) Stock of Decatur, IL; great grandchildren: Brendan Pritts, Clayton Stock, Brett Pritts, Austin Stock and Brycen Stock; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; family at Imboden Gardens. Max was preceded in death by his parents, wives, twin daughters, son: David Lee Pritts, brothers: Ed Pritts and Roy Pritts, sister: Grace Bruns.
