Martha E. (Burge) Gidel Obituary (1925 - 2017)

Martha E. (Burge) Gidel 91, of Decatur, IL passed away at 4:25 a.m., January 1, 2017, in Imboden Creek Living Center. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Brown Cemetery. Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home is assisting the family with services. Martha was born September 6, 1925, in Decatur, the daughter of J. Dwight and M. Lillian (Brown) Burge Sr. She retired from the A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company having worked in the Research Filing Department. She married Harry E. Gidel on July 2, 1976. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1990. Martha was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Decatur, a former member of the Order of Eastern Star-Argenta Chapter #819, and a member of the Farm Bureau. Surviving are her niece: Janet K. Doss and her husband David of rural Macon; great nephew: Mike Doss and his wife Sheri of Decatur; great niece: Kathy Gerhold and her husband John of Assumption; great-great nieces and nephews: Lexi Doss, Spencer Doss, Payton Lees, and Drew Gerhold. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and three brothers.
