Loretta "Lorett" Viola Goodwin Westfall Strickler Obituary (1935 - 2016)

Loretta "Lorett" Viola Goodwin Westfall Strickler, 81, of Edinburg, IL, formerly of Quincy, IL passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Moweaqua Rehab & Health Care. A graveside service to celebrate and honor her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Mt. Auburn Township Cemetery. Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society. Lorett was born on October 24, 1935 in Summer Hill, IL the daughter of Robert E. Lee Goodwin and Nola Mae Baughman. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Edna Hoover, Clara Lionburger, Lenora McMahan, Forby Goodwin and an infant brother: Charles Goodwin. Lorett was married on November 13, 1951 in Pike County, IL to Fay A. Westfall, as a result they were the parents of Marcia L. and Ron Ridgeway of Edinburg, IL; Gregory A. and Jessie L. Westfall of Carrier Mills, IL and Fay E. "Jack" and Kathy Westfall of Hornsby, IL. Loretta was also married to Donald Eugene Strickler for 33 years; there were no children from this union. Loretta is also survived by eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Loretta was employed by the Blessing Hospital of Quincy, IL where she retired from. Her good work ethics were well known. Loretta enjoyed Photography and was the recipient of several awards, published in the Quincy Herald. She also wrote several poems and a song which were also published. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed the company of her cat, Georgie. Loretta was a woman of great integrity. She had been saved, was a Methodist by faith, had a personal relationship with Jesus and abided by her faith. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
