Letha Eloise Pfeifer Jones Obituary (1921 - 2014)

Letha Eloise Pfeifer Jones, 92, formerly of Decatur, IL passed away at 10:44 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014 in her daughter's home. A graveside service to celebrate Eloise's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday (March 12, 2014) at Graceland Cemetery. A time of visitation will be from 11:30-12:30 on Wednesday at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or charity of donor's choice. Eloise was born on April 20, 1921 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Charles Lewis and Gaynell Catherine (Jones) Pfeifer. She was a 1939 graduate of Decatur High School. She worked at North Oakland Laundry for 24 years and was a homemaker. Eloise was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Decatur Chapter. In the past she was active with the P.T.A., Girl Scouts, Brownie Troops and was a Sunday School teacher. She also enjoyed crafts, needlework and sewing many items of clothing for her family. Eloise married Burton Elwin Jones on April 22, 1940. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1973. Eloise is survived by her daughters: Linda Spencer of Longmont, CO, Buffy Waymire and her husband Charles of McDonald, TN; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughters: Mae Eloise Rennert and Joyce Joan Meyer, brother: William Pfeifer, sister: Lila Kalin.
