Lawrence L. "Larry" Chandler Obituary (1943 - 2017)

Lawrence Larry L. Chandler, 74, of Mt. Zion, Illinois passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017. Larry was born in Springfield, Illinois on May 1, 1943, to Clarence L. Chandler Jr. and Wilma K. (Meyer) Chandler. He graduated from New Berlin High School in 1961 and got married on September 1, 1963, to Carolyn Kaye Sharp. They moved to Mt. Zion in August of 1969 and lived in the same home for 48 years. The 1904 home they purchased was in need of renovation and Larry transformed it into a cozy home where they raised their family. Larry was a very talented carpenter and was self-employed for 35 years. The first half of his self-employed years he worked as a remodeling contractor working on many homes and businesses in Mt. Zion and Decatur. The second half of his self-employed years he worked as an industrial contractor for The Grigoleit Company in Decatur where he handled many special projects for the company. Larry leaves his wife Kaye and his three sons: James Chandler and his wife Cathy and their daughters Audrey and Autumn of Chatham, Illinois, Thomas Chandler of Decatur, and Ryan Chandler and his wife Beth and their daughter Lillian of Mahomet, Illinois. He also leaves his sister Nancy Barry and her husband Ken of Springfield, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Township Cemetery. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family with services. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church for the Bell/Chime Fund.
