Johnie J. Cravens Obituary (1927 - 2019)

Johnie J. Cravens, 91, of Jonesborough, TN, formerly of Mt. Auburn, IL passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019. A graveside service to honor and celebrate Johnie's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Ponting Cemetery, Stonington. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. Johnie was born on April 1, 1927 in Jamestown, TN, the son of Lee and Ruth (Crabtree) Cravens. He married Barbara A. Ervin on January 8, 1951. Johnie was a farmer and a jack of all trades. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and playing his guitar. Johnie is survived by his wife: Barbara A. Cravens of Jonesborough, TN; children: Johnie Richard "Rick" Cravens and his wife Joyce of Oreana, IL, Brenda Tornavacca and her husband Norman of Sutherlin, OR, Joyce White of Jonesborough, TN, Robert Timothy Cravens and his wife Gin of Lilburn, GA, Jeffrey D. Cravens of Jonesborough, TN and Steven R. Cravens and his wife Heidi of Jonesborough, TN; sister: Kay Blanchard of Connecticut; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; Johnie's canine companion Fargo. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and five sisters.
