Janet Ruth Oldinski Obituary (1946 - 2019)

Janet Ruth Oldinski 72, of Decatur, IL passed away at 1:16 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2019, in Decatur Memorial Hospital. A service to celebrate Janet's life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Decatur, with Pastor Matthew Versemann officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning until service time at the church. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Janet was born April 11, 1946, in Chicago, IL the daughter of James and Marion (Mueller) Sternberg. She married Harold E. Oldinski on June 11, 1966. Janet retired from Kohl's Department Store and had formerly assisted her husband in the family business, Jordan's Nursery. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of the DORCAS/LWML Society. She had a passion for spoiling her nieces and nephews. Surviving are her husband: Harold of Decatur; sisters: Carol Oldinski of Highland, IL and Mary Hahn (Gary) of Kewanee, IL; sister-in-law: Bonnie Sternberg of Hoffman Estates, IL; nieces and nephews: Susan May (John), Randy Hahn (Katie), Kristin McDonald (Sean), Kelly Hahn, Beth Schumacher (Nathan), Douglas Hahn (Jen), and Courtney Sternberg. Also surviving are her nine great-nieces and great-nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, brother: John and brother-in-law: Bob.
