Jane Ramsey Obituary (1934 - 2013)

Jane Ramsey, 79, of Macon, IL passed away at 1:10 p.m. Sunday (June 2, 2013) at St. Mary's Hospital. A service to celebrate Jane's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday (June 7, 2013) at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Macon. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in South Macon Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association. Jane was born on January 5, 1934 in Chandlerville, IL, the daughter of Leo and Ellen Mae (Cowin) Showalter. She worked in the cafeteria at the Eastern Star Home then became the head cook at the Macon Elementary School. Jane married Paul Lavon Ramsey on December 28, 1952. He preceded her in death on September 10, 2006. Jane considered her most important job to be a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Surviving are her children: Doug (Kim) Ramsey of Bloomington, IL, Dennis (Sherry) Ramsey of Magnolia, TX, Julie (Fred) Powell of Macon, IL and Robert (Stacy) Ramsey of Normal, IL; sister: Jean Moeller of Quincy, IL; grandchildren: Scott (Kate) Ramsey, Sarah Ramsey, Jason Ramsey, Michael (Isabel) Ramsey, Melissa Powell, Elizabeth Powell, Jeffrey Ramsey, Emily Ramsey and Abby Ramsey; great grandchildren: Aaron Ramsey and Mason Ramsey; aunt: Betty Cox of Beardstown, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandmother, husband, one daughter, Aunt Dort and Aunt Pene. The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and staff of St. Mary's Hospital.
