James S. "Jim" Rutherford Sr. Obituary (1933 - 2019)

James S. "Jim" Rutherford Sr. 85, of Oakley, IL passed away at 8:25 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2019, in Decatur Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com. Jim was born July 7, 1933, in Decatur, IL the son of John and Vera (Hooper) Rutherford. Jim was a life-long farmer. He was a member of Antioch Christian Church. He enjoyed antique tractors and doing wood working out in his shop. He married Dorthey Ellen McKean in 1951. She preceded him in death on January 13, 1974. He then married Phyllis M. Powers on March 20, 1982. Surviving are his wife: Phyllis of Oakley, IL; daughters: Sue Kopetz (Mark) of Oakley, Lori Rose (Mark) of Fortson, GA, Vera Bart (Rob) of Cerro Gordo, and Nancy Christy (Michael) of Decatur; step-daughter: Jennifer Kraft of St. Louis, MO; daughter-in-law: Debra Rutherford of Tulsa, OK; sixteen grandchildren, thirty seven great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren also survive. Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, parents, ten siblings, sons: John David and James Jr. and his great grandson: Maxwell Cook.
