Hallie B Bafford Obituary (1921 - 2017)

Hallie B. Bafford 96, of Macon, IL passed away Monday, December 25, 2017, in Fair Havens Christian Home, Decatur. Services to celebrate Hallies life will begin with a visitation from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Macon. Masonic services will be held at 7:00 p.m. and a memorial service will follow at the funeral home. Private burial Wednesday at South Macon Cemetery. Memorial may be made to South Macon Fire Department or Lancaster-Dunn American Legion Post #72 in Macon, IL. Hallie was born April 19, 1921, in Macon, IL the son of Benjamin and Ona Adaline (Avis) Bafford. He was a W.W. II Army veteran. He married Dorothy Aukamp on February 14, 1941. She preceded him in death on October 5, 2013. Hallie retired as the Regional Director of Driver License Services, State of Illinois. He had formerly served as the Democratic County Chairman, a member of the Macon County Board, a Supervisor for South Macon Township, and as a Democratic Precinct Committeeman. Hallie was a member of the South Macon Masonic Lodge #467, Springfield Consistory, and the ANSAR Shrine. He was a member of the Macon Presbyterian Church. Hallie loved Dixieland music and played bass fiddle in the Hallie Bafford Combo. Surviving are his children: Jerry (Diana) Bafford of Decatur, Peggy Sprague of Decatur, Jill (Ray) Eyster of Decatur, Robin (David) Deal of Latham, and Denna Williams of Macon; grandchildren: Jodi (Danny) VanFleet of Decatur, John (Andrea) Snyder of Decatur, Holly Bafford of Decatur, Jenny (Mike) Beery of Decatur, Dee (Justin) Raver of Kewannee, Benjamin (Chelsi) Deal of Decatur, Jesse Deal of Latham, Hallie Williams and Mattie Williams of Macon; eight great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother: Gene, half-brother: Clark Galloway, sister-in-law: Helen, son-in-law: Joe Sprague, and grandson: Brian Sprague.
