Glenda Gean Sphar Obituary (1950 - 2017)

Glenda Gean Sphar, 67, of Decatur, IL passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 with her family by her side. Services to celebrate and honor Glendas life will be held at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion, IL. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 13 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following at 6:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Township Cemetery where she will be laid to rest. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. Glenda was born on January 27, 1950 in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Marion Charles and Wilma Ellen (Stahl) Garner. She married the love of her life, Carl Eugene Gene Sphar, on April 27, 1968. Glenda enjoyed watching the hummingbirds that would visit her garden of flowers which were as beautiful as she was. She was a tireless caregiver and a mother to so many, always putting others needs before her own. She was a fantastic cook and loved feeding all who would come by her house. Glenda has been an influential and inspirational force in countless lives. She knew no stranger and had a smile and laugh to share with everyone. More than anything, Glenda loved spending time with her grandchildren who were her world. She will be deeply missed. Glenda is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gene; three children: Brian Eugene (Melissa) Sphar of Mt. Zion, IL; Bradley Douglas Sphar of Decatur, IL; Tracy Lynette (Timothy) Carroll of Katy, TX; eight grandchildren: Megan Neibuhr, Hunter Sphar, Madison Maddie Sphar, Connor Sphar, Gabriel Sphar, Benjamin Carroll, Christian Sphar and Sydney Carroll; siblings: Wanda (Dick) Evey of Decatur, IL; Gary (Pat) Garner of Decatur, IL; Marion Butch (Thelma) Garner of Mechanicsburg, IL; Janet (Keith) Underwood of Decatur, IL and Sandy Brown of Marietta, Georgia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
