Glen K Akers Obituary (1944 - 2017)

Glen K. Akers 73, of Mt. Zion, IL passed away at 12:00 Noon, Friday, June 2, 2017, in St. Marys Hospital, Decatur. In keeping with Glens wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Private family services will be held at a later date. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family. Glen was born May 22, 1944, in Decatur, IL the son of Melvin and Thelma (Pettyjohn) Akers. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Glen married Ardis (Ross) Crew on July 22, 1994. He retired from the Seminole County Road Division in Seminole County, FL. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Mt. Zion. Surviving is his wife: Ardis of Mt. Zion; daughters: Barbara Ann Wilson of Houston, TX and Michelle OLeary of New Smyrna Beach, FL; sons: David Crew and his wife Megan of San Francisco, CA and Gene Crew and his wife Pam of Lakeland, FL; brothers: William Bud Akers of Dalton City, and Gary Akers of Decatur; sisters: Helen Mustell and her husband Bob of Louisiana, MO and Sue Tyler of Webster Groves, MO; special nieces: Leslie Robertson and her husband Rick of Mt. Zion and Kelly Barnes and her husband Chuck of Decatur; four grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, great nieces, and great nephews also survive. Glen was preceded in death by his parents.
