Geoffrey Alan Krueger Obituary (1954 - 2017)

Geoffrey Alan Kreuger, 63, of Decatur, Illinois died peacefully on November 22, 2017 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison surrounded by his loving family. Geoffrey was born on August 30, 1954 at Carle Memorial Hospital in Urbana, Illinois, the son of William E and Margaret E. Kreuger. He graduated from Lakeview High school in 1972. He was employed by Mueller Company in Decatur, Illinois from 1973 to 2015. He served in the United States Navy from 1975 to 1979, stationed at Norfolk, Virginia, serving aboard the USS Sylvania (AFS-2) as a Boatswains Mate. Geoffrey had an avid interest in the US Civil War and World War II military history; and was a collector of World War II memorabilia. His other hobbies included weight lifting and fellowship at the local YMCA and Decatur Athletic Club, reading, Illini sports, the Chicago Bears and Iowa State Cyclones. Geoffrey will be greatly missed by his family and special friend Nanette Ruffin. His surviving family members are brothers William R Sandy, married to Jan (Elizabeth M and William J) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Jonathan C, married to Cindy (Jonathan A, Sara E M, Benjamin T and grandchildren) of Columbus, Wisconsin; and Bruce E of Des Moines, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents. Geoffrey attended CrossPointe Community Church on S. Country Club road in Decatur, Illinois. A service to celebrate and honor Geoffs life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017 at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Macon County Memorial Park.
