Forrest M. "Sonny" Hines, Jr. Obituary (1930 - 2015)

Forrest M. "Sonny" Hines Jr. 85, of Decatur, IL passed away at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, November 14, 2015, in his home. A graveside service to celebrate Sonny's life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2015, in Point Pleasant Cemetery with military honors provided by the Macon County Honor Guard and the US Army Honors Team. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family with services. Memorials may be made to Macon County Honor Guard or Second Church of God. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com. Sonny was born April 21, 1930, in Decatur, IL the son of Forrest M. and Edith H. (Lane) Hines Sr. He served as a military policeman in the Illinois National Guard and went on to serve in the US Army and was a Korean War Veteran. Sonny married Shirley Ann Boyer on December 1, 1951. She preceded him in death on December 18, 2007. Sonny retired from the Decatur Park District having worked at the Decatur Airport. He attended the Church of God and the Presbyterian Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Surviving is his son: Keith Hines (Patty) of Dalton City, IL; daughter: Susan Hines (Russell Morgan) of Decatur, IL; sisters: Margaret Benton of Oneonta, AL and Doris Ruble (Allen) of Decatur; grandchildren: John Johnson, Michael Johnson, Leanne Misner (Ben), and Brian Hines; and great grandchildren: Bella and Dravin Johnson, Logan and Connor Misner. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, infant brother: Charles and nephew: Gary Robling. We the family will miss him so very much. Rest in peace Dad, Grandpa, Brother, and Uncle.
