Eloise H. Williams Obituary (1925 - 2015)

Eloise H. Williams, 90, of Decatur, IL passed away at 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital. A service to celebrate Eloise's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015 at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. for a one-hour visitation prior to the services on Monday. Eloise will be laid to rest in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to First United Methodist Church or Governor Oglesby Mansion. Eloise was born on April 22, 1925 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Linley W. and Lillian T. (Jockisch) Hurtt. She earned her Associate degree from Millikin University and her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from Purdue University in 1947. She married Murray F. Williams on November 29, 1947. He preceded her in death in October of 2001. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, PEO, Decatur Garden Club, Bridge Club and was a supporter of the Millikin-Decatur Symphony. Eloise was a tremendous cook and was on the Governor Oglesby Mansion board, where she was the head of volunteers in the kitchen for many years. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed reading. Eloise loved raising her family in Beirut, Lebanon and travelling the world. Eloise is survived by her sons: Mark (Maxine) Williams of Grapevine, TX, Scott (Abi) Williams of Jonestown, TX and David Williams of Golden, CO; granddaughters: Chelsea Williams and Megan Williams.
