Elizabeth Lee "Bettye" Sparks Schroat Obituary (1941 - 2019)

Elizabeth Lee "Bettye" Sparks Schroat, 77, of Decatur, IL passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Bettye was born on July 23, 1941 in Ashland, KY, the daughter of Claude Elmer and Nell (Garvin) Sparks. She was a school bus driver, Decatur City Transit bus driver and became supervisor before her retirement. Bettye was a devout member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. She enjoyed rooting on her favorite NASCAR teams, while enjoying an ice cold orange soda. Bettye is survived by her children: Jeff (Kathy) Hagstrom of Oxford, CT, Barbara M. (James) Edlen of Clyde, NC, Scott A. Schroat of Winston Salem, NC; grandchildren: Kelly Richard, Jessica Carter, Amy Thole, Chelsea (Chad) Jackson, Zachary (Lesleigh) Edlen and Cory (Joanna) Schroat; great grandchildren: Allen Richard, Liam Carter, Julia Thole, and Lincoln Peter Schroat. She was preceded in death by her parents, son: Peter Kevin Schroat and her former husband: John Raymond Schroat.
