Elinor Jane Lewis Obituary (1916 - 2015)

Elinor Jane "Aunt Jane" Lewis, 98, of Decatur, IL passed away at 9:31 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. A service to celebrate Jane's life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2015 at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday. Jane will be laid to rest in Point Pleasant Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Decatur & Macon County Animal Shelter Foundation. Jane was born on September 28, 1916 in Casner, IL, the daughter of Hal C. and Roxie M. (Florey) Britton. She retired in 1990 from the Macon County Clerk's office after 28 years of service as the Chief Deputy County Clerk. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Macon County Farm Bureau, St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary Post 105, former member of the National Hereford Association, 35 year member of Altrusa International and a lifetime member of the Democratic Party. Jane was an avid St. Louis Cardinal, Illini Basketball and Chicago Bulls fan. Jane is survived by her nieces: Susan (Dennis) Hinrichs of Decatur, IL, Heidi Hinrichs of Decatur, IL, Ellyn (Derald) Park of Argenta, IL, Karol (Don) Repovich of Belleville, IL and Gloria (Francisco) Lara of Baton Rouge, LA; nephew: Stephen Stone of Herrick, IL; great nieces: Kristi Stone of Decatur, IL and Tammy (Jason) Britz of Oreana, IL; great nephews: Bradley Yetter of Decatur, IL and Zach Stone of Decatur, IL; great-great nieces: Hannah Lyons of Oreana, IL and Maddi Stone-McCluney of Decatur, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant children, three sisters: Dorothy Berg, Imogene Stone and Alma Britton, niece: Sharon Schafer, great niece: Brenda Barnard, nephew: Wayne Hinrichs and her brother-in-law: Ted Stone.
