Edgar "Jack" Starkey Obituary (1924 - 2018)

Edgar "Jack" Starkey, 93 of Long Creek, IL passed away at 8:35 a.m., Friday, February 2, 2018, in St. Mary's Hospital. In keeping with Jack's wishes no services will be held. Jack was born October 1, 1924, in Decatur, IL the son of Edgar Lee and Urcil (Parks) Starkey. He served in the US Navy in the South Pacific and was a W.W.II veteran. He married Doris Dippold in 1955. She preceded him in death in 2004. Jack retired from the Village of Mt. Zion as the Water Superintendent. He enjoyed horses and dogs. Surviving are his children: Barry Starkey of Killeen, TX and Lisa (Alan) McArthur of Decatur; five grandchildren also survive. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, son: Gary; and two sisters. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Decatur Veterans Clinic, sixth floor staff of St. Mary's Hospital, and Dr. Kola.
