E. Neil Wendel Obituary (1938 - 2016)

E. Neil Wendel 77, of Decatur, IL passed away at 9:38 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2016, in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur. A graveside service to celebrate Neil's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2016, in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family with services. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois Charitable Fund. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com. Neil was born August 9, 1938, in Decatur, IL the son of Charles W. and Isla L (Carver) Wendel. Neil graduated from Mt. Zion High School. He served in the US Navy. He retired from Illinois Power Company as a systems analyst. Neil is survived by his daughters: Trisha R. Hooth and her husband Mike of Bloomfield Hills, MI and Tracy D. Coffman and her husband Steve of Macon, IL; Special Companion: Dianne Grimm of Decatur; brother: Lee Wendel and his wife Dee of Mt. Zion; sister: Kathy L. Goodwin of Mt. Zion; grandsons: Tony Clifton of Decatur, Marcus Biggins of St. Louis, MO and Trevor Hooth of Decatur; extended special family: Matt, Ryan, Amanda, Ashley, Christina, and Sebastian Grimm; beloved canine companion: Squeek. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother: Gene. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Benjamin Esparaz and all of his friends at Cancer Care.
