Dorothy J Nihiser Obituary (1921 - 2014)

Dorothy J. Nihiser 92, of Decatur passed away at 2:15 a.m., Monday, April 7, 2014, in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, IL. A service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, April 9, 2014, in Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion with Pastor Tim Moon officiating. Burial will be in Marrowbone Township Cemetery, Bethany, IL. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday morning at the funeral home. Dorothy was born October 10, 1921 in Decatur, IL the daughter of George and Leta (Roney) Dickson. She was a homemaker and married Harrison Edward Nihiser in July 26, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1960. Dorothy was a supervisor of playground activities at Spencer School. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and enjoyed bird-watching and puzzles. Surviving are her children: Jean Creighton of Maryville, TN and Ron Nihiser of Decatur; sister: Margaret Grinslade of New York; six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two grandchildren, two brothers, her son-in-law and her daughter-in-law.
