Doreatha "June" Jacobs 84, of Decatur, IL passed away at 7:12 p.m., Sunday January 19, 2014, in Southwest Georgia Medical Center, St. Mary's, GA. A service to celebrate June's life will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion with Pastor Ed Bacon officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Zion Christian Church. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com. June was born July 27, 1929, in Decatur the daughter of John and Vera (Hooper) Rutherford. She married Bernard E. Jacobs on July 29, 1945. He preceded her in death in August of 1986. June owned and operated Mt. Zion Beauty Shop and was the first beauty shop in the Mt. Zion community. She was member of the Mt. Zion Christian Church. Surviving are her children: Bernard Jacobs of Decatur, Linda Henry and her husband David of Decatur, and Timothy Jacobs and his wife Linda of Woodbine, GA; brother: James Jim Rutherford and his wife Phyllis of Oakley; sister: Betty Lowery of Dalton City. Eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, six brothers, and two sisters.
