Delmar Harrison Collier Obituary (1938 - 2017)

Delmar Harrison Collier 79, of Blue Mound, IL passed away at 1:17 a.m., Wednesday, June 21, 2017, in St. Marys Hospital. A service to celebrate Delmars life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in the Old Stonington Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. Delmar was born February 26, 1938, in Oak Hill, MO the son of Charles Harrison and Beulah Lee (Wright) Collier. He had retired from A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company in 1995 and went onto working as a self-employed remodeling contractor. Delmar was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and trustee. He enjoyed gardening and carpentry work. Delmar married Betty Dickerson on November 19, 1960. Surviving is his wife: Betty of Blue Mound; sons: Doug Collier (Brenda) of Decatur, Mike Collier of Carlinville, and Kevin Collier Blue Mound; sisters: Jean Ervin of Blue Mound, Glenda Carter of Fairview Heights, and Ruby Kahler (David) of Decatur; grandchildren: Christy Lehmkuhl (Tim) of Dardenne Prairie, MO, Jacob Collier (Liz) of Decatur and Wade Collier of Decatur; great-grandchildren: Lydia, Savanna Jo, and Amelia Lehmkuhl. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Robert and Ezra, and his sister Eunice.
