Charlotte Ann Johnson Obituary (1930 - 2017)

Charlotte Ann Johnson, 87, of Evanston, IL, formerly of Decatur and Springfield, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to the services. Charlotte will be laid to rest in Graceland Cemetery. Charlotte was born on March 15, 1930, the daughter of Cornelius and Marie (White) Bramer. She was a 1948 graduate of Stephen Decatur High School. Charlotte was born and raised in Decatur, raised two children in Decatur, was twice married and divorced, and later moved to Springfield to work for the State of Illinois Department of Employment Security. As a life-long Catholic, she received weekly visits from her local parish for comfort, prayer and communion. In the final years of her life, Charlotte moved to a small nursing home (Dobson Plaza) in Evanston, IL. Our family is eternally grateful to its management and staff for their care, love, and support. Charlotte enjoyed socializing with the other residents and playing a lot of bingo, but only if it did not interfere with her daily viewing of the Steve Harvey and Ellen DeGeneres shows. Charlotte is survived by her sons: Scott Bailey of Chicago, IL and Mark Bailey of Carson City, NV; brother: James (Janet) Bramer of Decatur, IL; grandchildren: Matthew Lighthall of Durham, NC, Tylena Brand of Decatur, IL and Leslie Bailey of Chicago, IL; three great grandchildren with another on the way.
