Cecil Robert Alderson Obituary (1926 - 2018)

Cecil Robert Alderson, 92, of Decatur, IL passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018. A service to honor and celebrate Cecil's life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com. Cecil was born on August 29, 1926 in Decatur, IL, the son of Mason and Ruth (Fundy) Alderson. He married Marjorie Ann Tucker on November 10, 1950. Cecil proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII on a mine sweep. He worked for General Electric for 21 years, custodian for Centennial Junior High School and Baum Elementary School, and was a transmission mechanic for Evans Auto Wrecking in Decatur. Cecil was a member of the V.F.W. He bowled with various Decatur leagues and enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting quail and golfing. The grandchildren will never forget Papa's tickles. Cecil is survived by his wife: Marjorie Ann Alderson; children: Susan Diana Alderson Vogel, David Alan (Cindy) Alderson and Robert Leslie (Nancy Grybb) Alderson; grandchildren: Leslie (David) Alderson Crisman, Shelly (Mark) Vogel Tolly, Katie (Emma) Vogel Harvey, David (Rachel) Alderson, Jr., Jenifer Alderson McCoskey, John Alderson, Corey Alderson, Cody Alderson, Robert Alderson, Jr., Mindy (Kent) Alderson Stader, Ashley (Andy Cooling) Dupont, Kari Dupont, Trevor Dupont and Angel Clark; great grandchildren: Javion (Tiana) Crisman, Sunni (Jamar Jones) Crisman, Deacon Crisman, Cecily "Lily" Tolly, Simone Schmid, Eva Schmid, Owen McCarthy, Lilly McCarthy, Lori Alderson, Kaitlyn Alderson, Caleb Alderson, Kaylee Foran, Darrin White, Maliyah McCoskey, Will Alderson, Connor Alderson, Samantha Stader, Madeline Stader, Emily Stader, Josh Thibert, Rodjahnae Dupont-Barlow, Ryty Dupont-Barlow and Paxton Dupont; great-great grandchildren: Xavier Frydenger, Blake Frydenger, Aubrey Howard and Lydia Alderson; brother-in-law: Robert Bean; grandson-in-law: Chris Schmid.
