Carl "Tunney" Ooton Obituary (1927 - 2018)

Carl "Tunney" Ooton, 91, of Decatur, IL passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at Liberty Village in Clinton, IL. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorials can be made to Liberty Village/Hawthorne Inn, 1 Park Lane Clinton, IL 61727. Carl was born on March 4, 1927 in Decatur, IL to William and Mary Ooton. He married Beverly Sue Manning on May 17, 1952 and were together for 60 years until her passing in 2012. Carl was a barber for 30 years and a laborer with Local 159. Carl enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved to attend his grandchildren's events watching and cheering them on. Carl is survived by his five children: Carol (Jim) Chrans, Bud (Cathi) Ooton, Penny Osborne, Cindy Christofanelli and Larry (Carletta) Ooton; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren with another on the way. Carl is preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers and seven sisters. The family would like to thank the staff of Liberty Village especially Shelly, Lacy, Marilyn and Davian. We would also like to thank the OSF Hospice services for their excellent care and loving support for our father and family.
