Beverly "Joan" McGeehon Obituary (1934 - 2016)

Beverly "Joan" McGeehon, 81, of Mt. Zion, IL passed away at 7:10 a.m. on Monday, January 18, 2016 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. A service to celebrate Joan's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Elwin United Methodist Church with Rev. Miley Palmer officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. Joan will be laid to rest next to her husband in Graceland Cemetery. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be directed to Elwin United Methodist Church. Joan was born on July 18, 1934 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Walter and Mildred (Force) Cornell. She married Donald McGeehon on September 15, 1957. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2010. Joan was a member of Elwin United Methodist Church, former member of Grace United Methodist Church and also a member of Home Extension. Joan is survived by her children: Rev. Randy D. McGeehon and his wife Jackie of Elwin, IL, Sheryl Mohr and her husband Jim of Mt. Zion, IL, Nancy Burkett and her husband John of Terre Haute, IN and Susan Maurer and her husband John of Dahlgren, IL; brothers: Jack Cornell of Ft. Worth, TX, Donald Cornell of Decatur, IL, Hebert Cornell and his wife Janice of Idaho and Stanley Cornell of Fine, NY; grandchildren: Nicholas McGeehon and his wife Martha of Chesterfield, MO, Trevor McGeehon and wife D'Ann of Greenfield, IN, Adam Burkett of Terre Haute, IN, Dennis Burkett and his wife Sara of Fishers, IN, Daniel Burkett of Milwaukee, WI, Lindsay Runion and her husband Dan of Dalton City, IL, and Ethan Mohr of Mt. Zion, IL; great-granddaughters: Aubrey Carter-McGeehon of Norris City, IL, Rylee Runion of Dalton City, IL, Lila Burkett of Fishers, IN, and Campbell McGeehon of Chesterfield, MO; great-grandsons: Tanner McGeehon of Greenfield, IN and Ryder Runion of Dalton City, IL.
