Arthur LeRoy Green Obituary (1933 - 2014)

Arthur LeRoy "Lee" Green, 81, of Decatur passed away on Monday (Oct. 6, 2014) at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Services to celebrate Lee's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday (Oct. 10, 2014) at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel. Visitation will from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 9, 2014) also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with military rites. Memorials can be made to Riverside Baptist Church. Mr. Green was born on June 16, 1933 in Morrisonville, IL the son of Henry Harrison and Clara (Cline) Green. He married Karen Merciel on May 28, 1960. Lee was a member of Riverside Baptist Church for 50 years. He was a trustee, usher and ran the sound system at the church. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Lee was a member at the American Legion Post #105 for 21 years. Lee worked as a conductor for Norfolk & Southern and also volunteered to conduct the train at Scovill Zoo. Mr. Green was a Boy Scout Leader and was an election judge for many years. Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Karen; son: Timothy A. Green and his wife Pamela S. of Bossier City, LA; daughter: Deanna K. Jones and her husband Gaydon of Bradenton, FL; four grandchildren: Katrina Jones of Bradenton, FL; Gaydon Jones, Denmark; Andrew D. Green of Dallas, TX; Stephanie L. Green of Ruston, LA; two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, 9 brothers, one sister and his daughter, Tonja Ann Green.
