Obituary for Shelby Renee' Barrett

Shelby Reneé Barrett, 27, of Gaithersburg, Maryland formerly of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019.

Shelby was born December 18, 1991 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Domenica “Sundi” (Anello) Barrett and Douglas Barrett. She graduated from MacArthur High School class of 2010 and attended Millikin University. Shelby was a cheerleader all throughout junior high and high school. She had a love for music and played the flute for seven years. Shelby also played the piano. She was involved in several bands from junior high school up thru high school including marching band, honors band, and Wind Symphony. Shelby was a four year member of the Decatur Park Singers and a member of ReCreation USA where she toured around the United States entertaining our veterans and performing sacred services in VA Hospitals and churches.

Shelby is survived by her mother Sundi of Decatur, her brother Dane of Decatur, father Douglas of Decatur, grandmother Saundra Barrett of Miami, Florida, aunts Yvonne “Bonnie” Shuff of Decatur and DeLinda Torpe of Miami Beach, Florida, unle Phil R. (Kris) Anello of Decatur, cousins Julie (Brian) Wrigley of Mt. Zion, Joni (Aaron) Grubbs of Mt. Zion, Jennifer (Billy) Gherardini of Mt. Zion, Tony Anello of Decatur, Andrea Anello of Decatur, Kenzie Beuttel of Decatur, Jake Beuttel of Decatur, Marj (Wally) Fremouw of Mattson, Matthew and Mason Wrigley of Mt. Zion, Hannah, Emma, and Isabella Grubbs of Mt. Zion, and Grace and Lily Gherardini of Mt Zion.

Services to celebrate Shelby’s life will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel in Decatur. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family in care of Domenica “Sundi” Barrett.
