Margaret Joan Drake 74, of Decatur, IL passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018, surrounded by her family.
Margaret was born September 12, 1944, in Decatur, IL the daughter of Paul and Mary Ellen (Higgins) Heffernan. She attended St. Patrick’s School and went on to graduate from St. Teresa High School. Margaret enjoyed art and painting and was an avid reader. She married Roger Drake on November 24, 1973.
Surviving are her husband: Roger of Decatur; daughter: Danielle (Billy) Maple of Tampa, FL; son Jeff Drake of Sullivan, IL; sister: Laurie (Ron) Thompson of Decatur; brother: Mike Heffernan of Decatur; grandchildren: Luke Maple, Logan Maple, Jaden Drake, Tre Sylvester; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Margaret loved her home, family, and her Yorkie: Teddy.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters: Ellen Copeland, Paula Keller, Lucy Auvil, Jan McCoy, and Judith Snyder.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Patti McMurray and Debbie Drake for helping taking care of Margaret.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at St. James Catholic Church, Decatur. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery, Decatur. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday evening, December 3, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion, IL. Memorials made to the Shriner’s Children Hospital, 4400 Clayton Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110.
