Obituary for Jo Ann Campbell

Jo Ann Campbell, 83, of Mt. Zion IL, died at 2:40 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2019, in her home.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion, IL with Rev. Mike Wakeland officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield IL. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Jo Ann’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at
Jo Ann was born on January 12, 1935, in Lexington, TN the daughter of Walter and Virgie (Moody) Hardin. She received her Licensed Practical Nurse and Registered Nurse degrees. Her professional career included private physician’s offices, working as an industrial nurse at Stewart Warner Hobbs Division and for the State of Illinois, having worked at McFarland Zone Center, Adolf Meyer Zone Center and Lincoln Developmental Center. She retired from the State of Illinois in 1997.
Jo Ann married Robert Campbell on May 19, 1951. He preceded her in death on December 2, 1990.
Surviving are her daughter: Robbie Gephart (Cliff Lough) of Mt. Zion, IL; son: Michael Campbell of Decatur, IL; grandson: Ian Gephart of Forsyth, IL; brother: Thomas Hardin of Jackson, TN and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers: Eunice and George Hardin, and sister: Betty Trueblood.
The family wishes to thank DMH Home Health Care, Hospice, Doctors who helped during our Mother’s care and the staff of Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church.
